What is a grievance?
A grievance is “an allegation by one or more unit members that there has been a violation, misinterpretation or misapplication of the specific provisions of the Agreement.” Article 9.A.1. The Union’s goal is “to resolve all grievances as expeditiously as possible, and at the lowest level possible.” Article 9.B.
What does a grievance rep do?
In consultation with the SBCCDTA President and CTA staff, the Grievance Representatives meet with members, college, and district representatives at their respective colleges to enforce the contract and resolve contractual conflicts.
Resolution of grievances is the responsibility of the Grievance Representative. The President of SBCCDTA appoints two Grievance Representatives, one from (and for) each college.

Greivence reps are appointed by the Executive Board.
